Re: Insults by Mr. Theo Jankowski towards myself and the Paternal Laws of the Basters

It is with great disappointment that I have to address this letter to you at dawn of our twenty-third independence anniversary. I had been informed by Cllrs. Martín G. Dentlinger and Jan J. van Wyk about remarks made by Mr. Theo Jankowski towards myself and the Paternal Laws of the Basters at a meeting you had at the Rehoboth Town Council on Monday, 11 March 2013.

This is not the first time that Mr. Jankowski was allowed in a Swapo dominated meeting to insult me in person and as traditional leader of the Rehoboth Baster Community. The latest being done and apparently allowed in your presence and approval by the Chairperson of the Rehoboth Town Council. This would never happen to any other traditional leadership without huge implication across the country. The insult reaches beyond me as person but inflict the very heart of an Indigenous Minority People with roots in the very core of Southern African origin. I honor the two UPM Councilors who in respect for your position, decided not to comment on the insults and missinformation fabricated by an appointed official. Mr. Jankowski had the opportunity to attend the meeting we had earlier and to raise his concerns, but has instead waited for an opportunity to gain favour with you. He had misled you instead as the information given to you regarding the Paternal Laws of the Basters are false.

Please allow me to remind you of the alleged claims by Mr. Jankowski of being a member of the ``Volks Party`` by whom the Paternal Laws of the Rehoboth Basters have been revoked?. This statement is false. The Paternal Laws as the Traditional Laws of the Basters were not undone or replaced by Act 56 of 1976 as claimed by Mr. Jankowski. He is either ill-informed or deliberately try to mislead you for reasons only known to him. The proclamation by the AG to facilitate the elections for Southwest-Africa/Namibia is proof enough for the fact that the Paternal Laws are still in effect. The verdict given in the High Court is another undeniable fact to this matter.

I would like to point out that Mr. Jankowski as a member of the ruling party has seriously violated UN Declarations on The Rights Of Indigenous Peoples which the Namibian Government has committed it to.

Attached see a copy of a letter send to the Hon Minister of RLHRD regarding the treatment we got from Mr. Jankowski.

Please contact the writer of this letter for any questions you may have.
